What you should know about home security

If you’re new to university or just returning for another year, you’ll know how many distractions day to day life can throw at you. For many of us, this means home security is at the bottom of our priority list.

Unfortunately, this means student houses can become an easy target as they’re often left insecure. For example, if you’re flat sharing, there are more electrical items to steal like laptops. Luckily, there are plenty of easy steps you can take to help deter burglars.

Firstly, it’s important to make sure everyone you’re living with is on the same page, so have a chat with your flatmates about getting in the routine of locking up. Making sure your flat is tidy and that any valuables or keys are out of sight is another good habit and if you’re planning on going away, take your valuable possessions with you and ask a neighbour or friend to collect any mail.
